 Always check the barn...................!

A New York man retired.  He wanted to use his retirement money wisely, so it would last, and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal .  The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15 years; the owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs.  The house was sold to pay taxes. There had been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded shut.

Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway......so, nobody made an offer on the place.

The New York guy bought it at just over half of the property's worth, moved in, and set out to tear into the barn...
Curiosity was killing him.  So, he and his wife bought a generator and a couple of grinders.......and cut through the welds.

What was in the barn...............?

The doors were welded shut, but an angle grinder took care of that.

No I haven't mate. I can have a look and see if one of the facebook groups have any on them and send you a link if your on facebook? If not I go to a couple of monthly local classic car meets from Spring to Summer and he usually brings them if you fancy a pub lunch one Saturday from Spring onwards. He also has a couple of old F1 cars at home as well as a mk2 Cooper S in mint condition.

I haven't done a lot in this mini yet to be honest, this year was pretty much its first time out (certainly at shows) as it had been in storage for 19yrs and it had only done 265 miles in those 19yrs which were mainly all done back and forth from storage to workshop for maintenance according to the notebook I found in a bag of bits in the boot when I bought it. It is almost 49yrs old now and has only covered 43k from new and is totally unmolested and unrestored.
