I thought this was a title leading to some one dieing, lol.

As for insurance, its a joke, have you tried putting him onto yours? would bring it down a lot from £3000 I would have thought.

What car are you trying to insure?

I ment you insure the car as the main driver and put him on as a named driver.

And if you go with direct line, named drivers can build up no claims, so when he has a few years, he can transfer over to his own policy, but bear in mind, these are only valid for direct line.

nope cant do that either named drivers can only use the car for  pleasure and domestic use only not for commuting

and i have tried with me and its dearer by £400 to £2000 its cos hes a new driver

got to say tho we did check about 3 months ago and we did get a quote for £2000 now after all the snow and ice £3000 i guess they have to recoop their losses some how

hes going to pay it anyway its not like he cant afford it

tried them they are cheap whilst your learning to drive then once your test is past up it goes

any way insurance doesnt matter now as hes lost the car
due to the fact that early hours saturday morning he came home so rat legged aggressive and abusive calling us names, waking the whole street up and before getting home he went into my works and started to wind up my colleagues
so once my mum in law found out (dave told her)  she wasnt to pleased and neither was his grandad, so she has hit him where it hurts and she has taken the car back and i totally agree 100% with her decision
he isnt responcable enough to know his limits and look after himself so hes not responcable enough to have a car

so our way of thinking is he now has to save up for a car as well as his own insurance (i was going to pay the 650 deposit but not anymore)
he will be out less and saving more and hopfully he will have a little more respect for the car as hes had to buy it

my mum in law wont give the car back as she has already told him that her and his grandad are trading in the focus and putting the corsa in for the scrapage scheme
best bit is dan had just had the corsa into the garage an had the cam belt and bearings done
all i can say is the boy is a fool  and hopefully he will think before he drinks

we are not going to give him everything on a plate like hes used to getting
he needs to
put up ,shut up and grow up fast

Oh dear no good  Head

When he's saved up he wants to get quotes for a classic car or kit car they are usually a lot cheaper but not sure how much for young drivers. My old Cooper costs me £100 fully comp inc breakdown cover and my last kit car I built was a Ferrari 355 replica with 2.0 turbo and it cost £200 fully comp. Before I chopped up the MR2 Turbo to build the kit it cost £500 third party only lol.

You'll be surprised what cars are classed for classic car insurance and it pretty much covers any car over 25yrs of age and all proper mini's are covered by specialist insurance companies now.  Wink
