They are beautiful. I bet if they were in my pond they would die, I have a 10% survival rate for plants in my garden.

Oh they are not easy to grow for sure. I am in zone 6- USA. I have to start them from tubers and put them outside in a heated tubs until July, or later. Then in Oct I have to put them away again for the winter.

These water lilies need a lot of sun and heat. These are tropical. Hardy lilies need sun too, at least 6 hrs per day. If  you don't have sun and feed your lilies they will not bloom much.

I get maybe one or two rubbish flowers a year. It gets full sun (if its out) perhaps I dont feed them enough. Im going to try more this year. I always get a lot of pads though.

My other plants grow like crazy!!!!!! maybe they steal all the food  Head

I feed them pond tabs. Try raising your lily pots up closer to the top of your water if your pond is deep. The sun will make the water warmer near the top. Try maybe only 8 to 12 inches of water over the top of the pot.

Its got a massive bulb, if thats the right name. Its out grown the pot by atleast double.

Is there any special soil it should be in?
