I have lights over my ponds to extend the days as the light hours shorten. Just simple bulk head lights with energy saving bulbs and the fish love them. When it is dark and the ponds light up it also give the appearance of gin like crystal clear water and this makes it possible to see even the smallest fry that may be straggling around. Plus the fact they get an extra feed late  at night to build them up for the cooler months which are fast approaching

i also have over the koi pond a normal external light that takes and energy saver
it lights the kois pond up great but not enough to blind us or the neighbours
i do have a security light to but when the other light is on it doesnt keep activating  Grin while we are using the garden, when we go in we turn the other light off and the security light does its job  Wink
